Message: Maybe, maybe not

I see on another forum that the lack of details with regard to the acquisition of Evonik Litarion GmbH means that the profitable $30 million contract must have been lost. This thought is more or less because the announcement of the contract came before Daimler's deal with LG to supply the new Smart car. I would say that one could further this thought because of the inclusion of the Smart car in the Jan. 2015 presentation along with Exide Technologies which I concluded (wrongly) meant that a deal maybe forthcoming, but Toefin did suggest that it may have reference to a 2006 deal. It now looks like the picture of the Smart car was included simply because Evonik Litatrion GmbH had or has an expiring contract with Daimler. At the risk of being wrong (which is too often) I now believe that the $30 million contract was never with Daimler for the Smart car but is with some other and yet to be determined company. First and foremost the pending deal was announced in Nov. 2014 and yet the cost of the German law firm(s) was mostly expensed in the quarter ending Sept. 2014. Also, on the Evonik Litarion GmbH website it is stated "since 2014 SEPARION is also available for the general market". Right or wrong I firmly believe that the loss of this profitable contract would have been the death nail for this deal and as such the contact is intact and is part of the overall deal, whatever that is.
