Canada has several key component developers working in the EV and PHEV area. Ontario based Electrovaya and Hymotion are both involved in PHEV vehicle development. Electrovaya provided its first Ford Escape plug-in hybrid vehicle to the State of New York in August, and Hymotion has been involved in supplying many PHEV vehicles to a variety of companies over the past two years. Electrovaya is also well known for its own lithium polymer battery technologies whereas Hymotion is now owned by leading U.S. battery developer, A123. Electrovaya and Azure Dynamics are also both involved in hybrid commercial vehicle development.
