Eastplats to Be Added to the S&P/TSX Global Mining Index

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Mar 16, 2010 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- Mr. Ian Rozier, President and CEO of Eastern Platinum Limited ("Eastplats") (ELR)(AIM:ELR)(JSE:EPS) is pleased to report that Standard and Poor's Canadian Index Operations will be including Eastplats in the S&P/TSX Global Mining Index at market open on Monday, March 22, 2010.

"We are pleased to return to the S&P/TSX Global Mining Index which is an important benchmark on the Toronto Stock Exchange. This recognizes the value of the Company's assets and will reinforce our access to the index-based investment community and further enhance our shareholder base," said Ian Rozier.

2009 fourth quarter and year-end results

Eastplats is scheduled to release its 2009 fourth quarter and year-end results on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 and to host a telephone conference call on the same day at 10:00 a.m. Pacific (1:00 p.m. Eastern) to discuss these results.
