jc, i'm having real trouble understanding the "financial" reasoning in the market with regard to japan...it seems everything is/was down when it should actually be up imo...

the tragic part is the loss of life and that should be everyones first and main concern. regardless of the media hype i dont see where the human tragedy and the economy are connected? in fact, they may have an inverse relationship. it seems to me that destruction is often the catalyst for creation.....when looking at the financial markets the fact is that japan will have a huge re-building effort and will demand more resources than before. the aftermath of a disaster often spurs the economy,,,,we saw this after the hurricanes in florida, katrina, haiti....

why would the price of corn, cummins, caterpillar go down when the demand for these products will increase?
