One rule that Boss made when the board started: no US political discussions on the main page. That rule has served the board well and remains in effect.

Too much chance to deteriorate into something like Yahoo boards, see e.g. Yahoo HAL board, which I once made the mistake of visiting since I owned some HAL at the time.
