Triple witching....the simultaneous expiration of stock options, index options and index futures on the 3rd Friday of the month that ends the quarter.

As an option trader we are aware of considerable volatility that day and the opportunity to take advantage of many swings, as traders unwind their positions.

I'm usually licking my chops that day and looking for opportunity. The Monday following is usually interesting as well. Much more so than the usual Monday after OE.
