From stock market update on scottrade:

Renewed pressure against the greenback has sent the Dollar Index to a fresh 52-week low. The dollar is currently off by 0.8% against a basket of major foreign currencies. Gold has been a primary driver behind the sector's advance. With the dollar down, participants have chased the yellow metal to a new record of $1186.80 per ounce.
