Venezuelan investigators have arrested eleven people, including seven police officers, in connection with an attack on a synagogue in the capital Caracas. A group of armed men broke into the synagogue on January 30th. They painted anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli slogans on the walls and destroyed religious artifacts.
Last month, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez expelled the Israeli ambassador in protest at the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip. The Venezuelan Jewish community has expressed concern over a growing number of anti-Semitic incidents.
