Trade between Venezuela and Cuba amounted to USD 2.69 billion in 2007
Cuban trade with Venezuela, China, Canada and Spain amounted to USD 7.72 billion in 2007. This figure represents 56 percent of the exchange of goods and services of the Caribbean island, which totaled USD 13.78 billion, according to a report published on Thursday by the Cuban National Statistics Office.
Venezuela (USD 2.69 billion) and China (USD 2.45 billion) were Cuba's two largest trade partners, with Canada (USD 1.41 billion) displacing Spain (USD 1.15 billion) from its traditional third place.
Despite the embargo and other recent restrictions, the United States ranked fifth among Cuba's trade partners with USD 581.7 million (specially agriculture products) followed by the Netherlands (USD 526.5 million), Brazil (USD 466.7 million), Italy (USD 414.8 million), Germany (USD 395.8 million) and Russia (USD 362.7 million).
