Well I am just glad that important and influential people like T. Boone Pickens are finally bringing the importance of peak oil into congressional meetings. This should be the number one problem on the minds of all Americans but unfortunately no one knows what the hell it is all about. I watched the whole proposal on c-span today with Pickens and I feel relieved a little now. This should be a top priority come election time and I hope it makes it into the debates. Although I don't agree with nat. gas being used as auto fuel, at least he is bringing about a proposal to wean us off of foreign oil within 10 years.
So many things need to change in the next few years and all of our attitudes need to change about how we use oil. We need those electric powered railroads, more carpooling, and more densely packed urban living in those small towns where the main roads serve as the main source of commerce for those towns and not the big box stores located 10 miles away. People need jobs closer to home. We need to grow our own food again and not get it from china or japan or south america. To quote Kunstler, " The days of the 10,000 mile ceasar salad are over". We need more solar and wind. These are the future sources of electricity for us. It most likely will be ugly for a few years, but in the long run, the pain will be much less by making the changes for our future now, than waiting for the oil to run out.
Okay, so now I am OT on the OT comment, lol. Oh well. If only I had not tied up all my money here. I would have shorted the crap out of lehman in march or bought some puts.I would have loaded up on my nat gas stocks and oil refiners the last few years. Shoulda woulda coulda.....
