TICK and TRIN are both short term trading indicators and move in opposite directions. Some traders use them for day trading to flag extreem condictions relative to buying & seling volume and uptick vs downtick trading. When TICK is moving UP, TRIN is moving down.

I don't know if they are still used but Tony Turner swears by them in her day trading books.
