The debt burden on their gold reserves is over $3.6B before any mining, with interest continuing. It will be 10 years of mining at least to pay this all back to level its effect. Venezuelan peoples  wealth has been given away by incompetence and corruption. Very sad.

So much for socialism thanks to Cuba's giving advice to Chavez. He truly gave himself to Castro for guidance and here they are in a mess. The Cuban model of socialism. "Don't pay any foreign debts at all costs". Even if the people starve. Any compaints? Shoot them. Or throw them out the window.
