The writer got it backwards;

"The Chinese have allowed the Venezuelans to be stupid," says Derek Scissors, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute who tracks Chinese investment around the world. "The Chinese don't want to allow the Venezuelans to be stupid anymore."

It is the Chinese who are the stupid ones to lend Ven $60B which they'll never recover.

Didn't they learn anything from the losses of other countiies investing there? How about 23 lawsuits in the icsid.

That makes Venezuela smart. This is what they have been doing all along in all to their foreign business investors. Foreign investors put money into Venezuela and when they finish building the inftrastructure they expropriate all the assets and pay nothing in return.

Remember Cuba 50 years ago after Castro took over the country? Castro did not pay one red cent back for all the property and assets they expropriated. Castro was the mentor to Chavez of how to run a communist country and successfully cling to power like himself. This before Chavez went back and forth for his colon pelvic cancer treatments (Wondeer how he got that?). Between the two of them he crated the 21st century Socialistic movent. Chavez paid Castro back by sending a stream of free oil. That now makes Castro smart and Venezuela stupid.

Latin American investment is a huge risk. Russia put Billions of dollars into Cuba and got a couple of shipments of sugar. Didn't take them long to figure it out for Cuba. Then they put billlions in Venezuela with an arms deal. No oil. All going to China. Who is the stupid one.

So who is the stupid one. Venezuela the con artist is the smart one. But it won't last they (China now) are beginning to smarten up. Venezuela will soon go down the drain if it isn't there already.

Anyone who curently invests in Venezuel today is the stupid one.If I was Gold Reserve I would have taken the money. In the end they will get burned for sure. But they never learn.
