The presidential commission will be chaired by the Minister of State for Integral Development Region of Guyana, a position that currently plays Carlos Osorio.
By a decree of the President of the Republic published in the Official Gazette number 40,376, the Presidential Commission for the Comprehensive Protection, Development and Promotion of Lawful Mining Activity in the Region of Guyana, which is responsible for defining a plan to be created eradicate the illegal practice of mining in the area.
