Venezuela elect new president on April 14

Tibisay Lucena said more than 17 million Venezuelans are called to vote.

Speaking on the proven robustness electoral system, and warning that "the country should reject and not accept the blatant blackmail which seeks to harm the relationship with the referee to injure democratic life," the president of the National Electoral Council, Tibisay Lucena, announced that April 14 is the date set for the presidential election.

Starts well, five months after the October 7, the race for the seat of Miraflores between Nicolas Maduro and, if he accepts the proposal of the MUD, Henrique Capriles.

• Candidates may run between today and tomorrow.

• The campaign will last 10 days, from 2 to 11 April.
