On the left coast, Market opens at 630am and closes at 1pm our time. Job (not stocks,... wish!) is flexible enough that I can keep one eye on the Market. Personally, never have traded in after hours, heard it is crazier than otc/pinks. Yes, it can be a long afternoon, sometimes with meetings and such.
