dend/money, i believe brandes owned an equity stake in a privately owned venezuelan company. i dont see how icsid could dictate to venezuela how they should treat venezuelan businesses. i think cantv was actually a private company but it may have been traded on the ven exchange (making it a "public company").

if cantv was actually a public company then this ruling could have some big reprocussions for some of the new JV companies. venezuela is constantly trying to blur the line between public and private.

our case is very different and the chances of us losing on jurisdictional grounds are almost nil imo..

i think these type of rulings will just show that not only can you not trust the ven govt. you simply cant do business in ven with anyone because the ven govt will screw it up.
