Alba members propose creation of Geological and Mining Council




First Meeting of Geology and Mining - 01
During the First Meeting of Geology and Mining, held in Caracas, representatives of the Governments of Bolivia, Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela agreed to the formation of a Geological and Mining Council composed of ministers responsible for these activities in the signatory countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA)
The information was disclosed, the Minister of People's Power for Basic Industries and Mining, Joseph Khan, who said that this proposal is to support economic development, sovereign and independent peoples, as well as meet their legitimate aspirations.

He added that during this first meeting, in addition to the constitution of this Council discussed the need to structure the integration of geological and mining activity in the South (Minersur) and the creation of a common fund to support the actions of this political will.

He also said that undertake other joint activities related to the field of geology and mining, with priority for consulting a deeper knowledge of the needs and interests as will identify strategic alliances based on the principles of solidarity, equity, cooperation, complementarity and sustainability.

"We need to take common positions to strengthen these important areas and the processing industry to add value to raw materials derived from them, enabling us to achieve sustainable development of our peoples? Khan said.
It is important to note that the First Meeting of Geology and Mining, which was coordinated by Mibam, was attended by the Minister of Basic Industry of the Republic of Cuba, Yadira Garcia, Minister Counsellor Chargé d'affaires of Bolivia, Jorge Alvarado Rivas and the Director General of Mining in Nicaragua, Carlos Zarruk, and a group of experts knowledgeable in these areas.
