Christmas holidays end with 79 violent deaths in Caracas

Reimar Roa, 20, was stabbed and died outside her home. The girl was attacked by her former partner, who refused to accept their separation.

Roa's body was one of the 79 that were taken to the Bello Monte morgue, south Caracas, during Christmas holidays, from the afternoon of Thursday 23 until Monday 27 in the morning.

Giovanni Martinez, 48, was killed on December 25, at 9:30 pm, in low-income neighborhood of 23 de Enero, west Caracas. Apparently he had an argument with a man, who shot him twice. He bled to death.

That same day, but at 2 am, Randy Ernesto Gómez, 24, was stabbed to death at Lecuna Avenue, downtown Caracas.

According to his relatives, Gómez was with a group of friends at a Christmas party, and when they returned there was a fight between them.

On December 26, at 3:00 am, Jofre Marcano, 20, was found dead in his home, located at El Onoto slum, in Caricuao, west Caracas. He was shot nine times.

At 6:00 am on Monday, a 16-year-old boy died in El Llanito hospital. He was shot on December 9 as he arrived at his home in Las Minas de Baruta, southwest Caracas.
