Workers reject union sectors attempt to paralyze Minerven
Ciudad Bolivar, December 3 .- Workers AVN Mining Company of Venezuela (Minerven) rejected attempts by union groups and factors of the opposition in southern Bolivar state to affect the production of the country's leading gold company.

"We reject the constant sabotage and called for a strike to make some trade unionists in the service sectors of the opposition, who are part of a plan to affect the production of the company," said Luis Jimenez, on behalf of workers.

He said this is part of a plan for economic impact on Minerven, thus interfering with the payment of benefits established in our collective agreement.

He further claimed that many of these calls to stop from union leaders, though presented as revolutionary, act as a fifth column of the table of democratic unity in southern Bolivar state.

He stressed that the vast majority of workers in this State is committed to operational and financial recovery of the plant and return to the first position as a domestic producer of gold.

Minerven is a company supervised by the Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana (CVG) under the Ministry of People's Power for Basic Industry and Mining.

Its area of operations is located in the town of El Callao, Bolivar State, 850 miles south of Caracas, and has a production capacity of 8,000 kilos of gold a year, thanks to the mine gallery and gold zones that have been concession granted by the Venezuelan State in this jurisdiction.

"Minerva is a company that supports the communities surrounding its plants and has fulfilled its obligations to its workers," said Jimenez.

He highlighted the company's support for the recovery of the educational infrastructure in the town of El Callao, as was the case of the adequacy and expansion of the Bolivarian School Dr. Alfredo Machado, which is also guaranteed transportation for their students.

The position of workers in the state gold was supported by former members of the Legislative Council Torrealba and Manzur Ahmed Bolivar Gomez.

"Prosecution is necessary that an investigation against people who have tried to call a work stoppage in Minerven, because at stake is the stability and future of the main and only public company producing gold in the country, whose strategic importance can not be underestimated, "said Amed Torrealba.

For its part, Manzur Gomez said: "The union leaders who have promoted this type of situation should reflect and understand that Minerven comes to suffer the consequences of international economic crisis and now needs the effort of his entire labor force and the community" .
