Clodosbaldo Russián: Creating awareness is fundamental in fighting corruption

At the conclusion of the Fourth Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption (IAAC) in Macao, Special Administrative Region of China, Russián recommended the involvement of anti-corruption authorities in expanding efforts to develop and refine scientific methods measurement of corruption.

According to a press release also urged States parties to implement laws and policies to ensure that these authorities carry out their duties with the required independence, with the required financial resources, and trained personnel for the purpose they can exercise their functions effectively and without influence of any kind.

The comptroller general was pleased that the recommendations of Venezuela, exposed to more than 150 members of the IAAC in his speech, are reflected in the text of the Declaration of Macao.

As part of the activities at the Fourth Meeting of the IAAC, Russián held working meetings and formal interviews with officials from the comptroller of China, Cuba, Ecuador, Hong Kong and Macao.

He also met the delegate of Iran Javad Vaeidi, deputy general of the Organization of Iranian Inspection, who agreed on the origins of corruption as a historical category that comes close to slavery and the emergence of antagonistic social classes.

Both authorities are concerned that the industrialized countries promote the emergence of non-governmental organizations, unscientific, rate the States in response to policy differences or similarities they have with their sponsors.

Speaking at the plenary of the Fourth Meeting of the IAAC, Russián said Venezuela is ready to cooperate with other countries and to assist in individual and joint research in matters related to corruption.

"Such collaboration is essential if we stop this terrible scourge that must be faced jointly and severally in the concert of nations in order to succeed," he said.

This international event, attended by 150 members of the IAAC, took place between the 2 and 5 November.
