I've never understood why Khan often ends up in translations with the word, "Chinese" in front of his name. Can anyone clue me in as to why that is often the case?

They do not want you to get confused with evil Star Trek Khan?

One definition or Khan:

  1. A ruler, an official, or an important person in India and some central Asian countries.

Maybe he looks Chinese to reporters?

Maybe a nickname.
