Fortunately, for several reasons, the Canadian economy is no longer quite so tied to the US. Our trading has managed to diversify into East Asia and into Europe; we have resources; we have what seems to be just the right amount of federal control over the banking system; and over time, we have managed to diversify our businesses within the country so that having our dollars at par, and beyond, no longer causes 3 inch headlines in all the papers.
