The mayor of the Sifontes municipality was yesterday presented/displayed in the Judicial Circuit of City Bolivar, Carlos Chancellor. The lawyers showed the pleas to request the appeal of the sentence of seven years of jail that in the 2009 was imposed to participate to him in a protest in Main the 10, when a group of artisan miners barred the route to demand the payments that the private company Crystallex owed to them.

The political leader arrived at the smiling court

Chancellor was elect by popular will the 15 of February of the 2009, with a forceful victory that surpassed by more than 8,000 thousand votes to his nearer contendor, being even the voted mayor more.

Daniel Chancellor, brother of the imputed one, assured that already it was hour that to its brother did justice to him. He indicates that already he takes more than two years shut in Patrol crafts of Caroní to delays of the hearing to determine his situation. He made clear that Chancellor is a political prisoner of the government of Francisco Rangel Go'mez, and who will not rest until its freedom is obtained.

He remembered the facts by which his brother was prisoner, when in the 2005 during a protest in the highway that he connects to Brazil with Venezuela around kilometer 88, the then councilman accompanied a group by miners who presumably fought by their social vindications.

It assures that Carlos did not initiate the manifestation but it raised his voice like councilman before the injustice that underwent the minerista mass.

Waiting for judgment
Daniel asserted that he has fought of tenacious way by the freedom of his brother, and was yesterday that he could know that the opportunity would occur him to present/display the tests to the defending part to demand its liberation.

He makes a call to the governor Francisco Rangel Go'mez, to that he leaves the side egoism and he puts his hands in the heart so that justice with a leader becomes who was chosen by the town.

Similarly, he was useful to request the freedom of William Saud, judged by the same cause but that at the moment is ill of cancer.

The case
The process against Chancellor began in the 2000, after denunciations by presumed irregularities during its exercise like mayor of this municipality in 1998. Later, in the 2005, another investigation in his against by using a transmitter of its property began to urge the population to the taking of streets, due to the existing conflict between miners of the zone and a company of the branch.

Then, there were manifestations with the consequent closing of public thoroughfares that lead Santa Elena de Uairén, action that interrupted the automotive transit and the commerce, among others activities, which generated sinking in the colectivity.

Then, the Public Ministry requested an order of apprehension against Chancellor and the other sentenced, these last ones were put to right. But it was in May of 2006 when the condemned today appeared and the 22 of the same month the Court 2° of Control of Ordaz Port dictated precautionary measures, opinion appealed by the public prosecutors of the case.

On the other hand, the wife of Carlos Chancellor assured that she was accused by several crimes that could not be demonstrated. In his opinion, she only went to accompany to the miners in his fight.

The temporary mayoress of the Sifontes municipality creates and trusts Venezuelan justice to give total freedom to her husband so that she can continue serving a town chose that it of sovereign and democratic way.
