CARACAS - The Venezuelan leader, Hugo Chávez, today reaffirmed his candidacy for the 2012 presidential elections. "In December 2012, the people will elect a new president, and I'm ready to continue building this beautiful country, this good country, with you", he said while addressing an electoral rally in Caracas. According to Chavez, next Sunday's parliamentary elections are a starting point for the presidential poll. In this regard, he called on Venezuelans to ensure the socialist rule in the National Assembly with their vote. After the victory in the parliamentary elections, it will come 2011, and then presidential elections, he recalled. A recent survey by GIS XXI gave Chavez the victory by a margin of 20 points if the elections were held tomorrow. The investigation considered a hypothetical opposition candidate, as, so far, there have been no candidates from this sector. |
