This article reminded me that China has some kind of condition with VZ, that requires the yuan as part of the repayment plan. I can't remember the exact context. I think it had to do with money loaned to VZ. Some of it had to be in Yuan, which VZ would then use to buy goods from China. I wonder if they will be working some deal like that with regards to LC.

This made me think about all the countries that China is in, developing resources. I wonder how much the Yuan is used, say in terms of taxes and royalties paid. Could they have made arrangements to pay those in Yuan, at least partially, so that they are then used in trade? This could be a way to get the Yuan in circulation more all over the world.
