Ciudad Guayana .- At a meeting in Caracas, the Environment Minister, Alejandro
Hitcher ratified its decision to allow exploitation work in certain areas to be
allocated to the artisanal miners in Guyana.
The information was provided by the president of the Cooperative Betera 086
artisan miners, Nelly Sun Matute, who described the meeting as "very positive."
According to the leader of the small mining Guyanese, the announcement means the
facilitation of six renewals of "Approval of Allocation" which are approved
areas for the exercise of this profession, in accordance with the Mining Act in
force and which are located in Cuyuni River Basin.
These areas must be inspected by a technical commission composed of the
cooperative, Mibam and two designated spokespersons of the respective mining
