First let me say I'm inclined to agree with the long term value of our investment going forward subject to clarification of details all within the broader macro context.
Having said that....there wll be a huge incentive to take profits in the U.S. prior to the end of the year....courtesy of the increased capital gains tax rates planned by Mr. Obama on "the rich" (that would be everyone reading this post subject to the U.S. tax laws). I'll never forget Jim Cramer's statement "Everything in South America is a trade". Two interesting concepts to keep in mind given the day trading mentality that seems to skew the true long term value of investments to the downside in the short\intermediate term. I believe it was Jesse Livermore that said "markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent".
The history (and winning investment strategy) of this stock over the last few years has been to "sell the news and book any profits". In any event....we are at the mercy of whatever strategy is adopted by big money and the MM. We're just a pimple on the elephant's ass along for the ride.
No one knows how to play this stock by year end (imo). If you are going to need to sell shares to pay bills short term....you may want to consider trading enough shares on receipt of news to allow you to let the other shares ride until the long term value of this play is acknowledged by the larger market.
If your timetable is a year or more, I would think you can't go wrong by holding.
