out of 155 "signatory states" and 144 "contracting states".....about 50% of the cases involve about 2% of the member states....
there are 130 current "pending cases" in icsid....of these,
29 list the respondent as argentina
10 list venezuela
about 15 list ecuador, chile, bolivia, peru.......
so about 1/2 of all pending icsid cases are the "banco del sur" countries......
my guess is that these countries have no intentions of ever paying any awards...i believe they eventially will have to pay (even if it involves the US/china/russia bumping heads).......but would'nt it make more sense for the world bank to start dealing with these cases now, rather than after these countries have bigger trade partners?
