GW, I saw an interesting interview on CNBC yesterday with Eric Sprott of http://www.sprott.com/Offshore/Default.aspx He is a very interesting guy and has had a 500-600% return since 1999, blowing out all the averages.

He is currently iirc 40-50% in gold, about 35% in gold miners and the rest in energy and materials. His PHYS gold fund is unique in that the Royal Canadian Mint hold all of the gold backing the fund and you can take physical delivery at any time. Seems a nice and secure way to avoid the paper funds for the portion of gold that you trade.

He also likes silver somewhat better than gold right now, but is expecting big performance from both.
