Venezuelan government promises to pay Ternium debt "soon"
Economy
Venezuela will pay "in the next few days" its overdue debt to the international giant Ternium for the nationalization of Siderúrgica del Orinoco (Sidor) steel mill, said Rodolfo Sanz, the Minister of Basic Industries and Mining.
Ternium said earlier this month that it had not received payments for almost USD 300 million that the government of President Hugo Chávez should do at that time for the purchase of Sidor's shares.
Venezuela agreed to pay Ternium USD 1 billion for the takeover of the nationalized plant in 2008, Reuters reported.
