Caracas, 31 ABN .- The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, announced Sunday the establishment of the National Electric Fund, which will strengthen the development in power throughout the country.

This was said during the program Alo Presidente N º 350, broadcast from the hall Joaquín Crespo Miraflores Palace.

"We have decided, in accordance with the recommendation of the minister (of People's Power for Electricity) Ali (Rodriguez Araque) strategy, and I have agreed to create a fund for developing the National Electric Power," the Venezuelan president .

He said he will be transferred to the Ministry of People's Power for Electricity resources necessary for there is no delay when purchasing any equipment or improvements in advance of this important item.

In this regard, noted that initially it could provide a billion dollars to take once the work and speed up this great project.

"All resources that are needed for this plan beyond 2010, in which Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) is also an important part to play, are available, as well as investment projects are in operation, maintenance and distribution execute, "said Chavez.

He also said that there are altogether 59 projects for power generation and distribution, as well as 50 projects in operation and maintenance of electrical matter.

Among one of the projects in operation, the President cited the case of the thermoelectric plant in Zulia state.

In this regard, Minister Rodriguez Araque noted that the unit 5 Termozulia became operational on Saturday with 90 megawatts (MW) and that this Monday will increase to 150 megawatts (MW), which will significantly improve the energy situation in the state.

Head of State recalled that it is combined cycle power plants, latest technology established in Venezuela by the revolutionary government.

"These projects did not exist here, all we had was the construction of more reservoirs up in the Caroni River, the river squeeze and squeeze the river," he stressed.
