Venezuela signed cooperation agreements with Eritrea and Mauritania seguimientro of the Second Summit of South American-Africa

Both were entered in separate acts, by the Deputy Minister for Africa, Reinaldo Bolívar, on behalf of Venezuela, and the Permanent Representatives of Eritrea yl of Mauritania to the United Nations, Ambassador Araya Desta and Abderrahim Ould Hadrami.

No monitoring of the commitments made at the Second Summit of South American-Africa, held in Margarita Island in September 2009, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela signed on Thursday 21 January, bilateral instruments of mutual collaboration with the State of Eritrea and with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, which translates into concrete actions in the relationship between Venezuela and the two African countries in the spirit of South-South cooperation, which strongly promoted by President Hugo Chávez.

This is a Cooperation Framework Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania The instruments, which were entered in separate acts, by the Deputy Minister for Africa, Reinaldo Bolívar, on behalf of Venezuela, and the Permanent Representatives of Eritrea yl of Mauritania to the United Nations, Ambassador Araya Desta and Abderrahim Ould Hadrami.

The Framework Agreement of Cooperation with Eritrea establishes the parameters for the design and implementation of activities between the two countries in areas of energy, mining, agriculture, social, cultural and other, while the Memorandum of Understanding provides the conditions for implementing a consultation mechanism at ministerial and senior officials.

For its part the Framework Cooperation Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, covering areas besides energy, mining, agriculture, social and cultural fishing sectors, and economic among others. In the Memorandum of Understanding to establish a consultation mechanism, countries also undertake to hold meetings between ministers and senior officials.

The signing of the agreements was held at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations in New York, in the presence of our country's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jorge Valero, Ambassador Julio Escalona, Latin American Parliament deputy Filinto Duran and other officials of the Venezuelan representation, while Eritrea was also attended by Ambassador Seyoun Tesfa, Secretary Amawuer Grorgro and Saba Mabte Advisor.

Following the signing of agreements with these countries in eastern and northern regions of Africa, the Deputy Minister Reynaldo Bolivar said that the signing of the mechanisms are part of the "African Agenda" of Venezuela, which for this year 2010 is to complete the framework general legal cooperation with the African continent, allowing the development of complementary areas.
