Crystallex International Corporation is a Canadian-based gold company with a successful record of developing and operating gold mines in Venezuela and elsewhere in South America
"at the request of Member (PPT) Jose Albornoz, Second Vice
President of the National Assembly."
This is the key part of it all. This is at the request of the second Vice President of the NA. Not some Chancellor level disgruntled person. This is a serious negative imo. This is tied with the following paragraph that the--"Standing Commission on Domestic Policy, Justice, Human Rights and Constitutional Guarantees, to review the investigation of known case Chancellor is going to investigate the accusations against Chancellor"--.
Take the chain of events up to now and it pretty much mirrors the anti Vz sentiment toward kry and these investigations to me could very well be "legal" attempt to squash the contract. Chavez controls the NA and you can bet he supports this move. There has been a big cloud surrounding the original 15 million dollars fronted to get this going. Wher did the money go? There is no acountability for it.
This investigation and what it seems to me to be directed at will go right to this area and if any discrepency can be generated as far a any sort of bribe accusations, we're toast if they are using these investigations against kry.
That said, the most recent Na committe under Guitierrez delivered some positive conclusions to put some of this to rest. The Chancellor accusations seem to go to the rewarding of the contract by under handed tactics though. If Vz wants to peg irregularities on the awarding of the contract with these NA investigations I would say they could probably find a way to do it with the 15 million dollar "payment" that seems to be unaccounted for by some.
Is this just another bleeding tactic?
Looks like we go in circles again
