COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Thursday the U.S. military is using bases on Dutch islands near his country to plan an attack.
The leftist Venezuelan leader made his assertion during his speech before delegates from more than 190 nations at the U.N. Climate Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, though offered no concrete proof, Globovision reported Thursday.
Chavez said the United States has spies and other military personnel at bases on the self-ruling Dutch islands of Aruba, Bonaireand Curacao near the northern coast of Venezuela.
The Venezuelan president has repeatedly asserted the United States has been planning to invade his country in hopes of deposing him.
