No mistake in either of the Gold Close figures quoted. Gold trades 24 hrs a day during the week, with a one-hour break at 5pm-6pm eastern (midnight-1am, Zulu/GMT/UTC).

The 12/8 $1143 was the NYMEX close that happens at 130pm eastern, and is generally considered the US Gold Market close. And for today, happened just moments ago ($1118, Ouch!).

The 12/8 $1128 close was the end of Zulu/GMT/UTC Day close price, generally considered the World Market close.
