This raises a good point.

The Canadian BIT has a clause (Art. III §§ 1-2) that gives equal treatment to the best treatment afforded by Venezuela, aka a Most Favored Nation clause. For Canadian investments that means that the Russian clause will be applied for future disputes.

I haven't studied the issue enough to determine if it would apply to arbitrations filed before the Russian BIT was signed.
