Chávez’s Insulting Demagoguery
It seems that there are no limits to the outbursts of demagoguery and terrible insults that Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chávez launches against inter-American public order and, in a very special way, against American President Obama and Colombia’s Uribe. In spectacular speeches in front of multitudes organized by him, he inflames the passions and gives them the slogans that they must repeat with him. He has been doing this constantly for a long time now and the practice has been increasing in an alarming way against the security of the Western Hemisphere.
Chávez does not say that he is going to attack Washington and Bogotá, rather, he thinks that people are going to accept as a truth the lie that the governments of Obama and Uribe are going to attack the Venezuelan regime. He does not say that this would be an attack against his government, but against Venezuela, a country that is suffering under Chávez dictatorship and that enjoys the sympathy, as a country, of foreign peoples and governments.
Venezuela is suffering a serious economic, political and social crisis. In order to hide this, Chávez has found the way to organize public demonstrations to confuse his people, trying to make them believe that Venezuela is the victim of an international conspiracy, of an imminent attack against its sovereignty. Of course, very few are those who believe this fabrication, not to call it outright lie. Only those who are being manipulated from the presidential palace of Miraflores believe it. This is an attitude that goes against international public order and the reasonable minimum of peace that should exist in the relations among the countries of the region and their respective governments. It must be clarified that among those governments are those that deliberately back Chávez’s verbal aggressions and his maneuvers against the security of other countries, such as in the case of Honduras, a country that is experiencing terrorist acts and assassinations that are the result of the agitation directed from Venezuela.
Chávez’s diminishing prestige is being felt in Venezuela on a daily basis, because of the lack of food, water and electricity. In order to somehow hide these deficiencies, totally out of place in Venezuela’s traditional prosperity, Chávez has started this campaign about a purported aggression by the United States and Colombia.
