KRYER, you sound like you are much more versed in this than I which you hopefully can answer a couple of questions. I too have watched the Amex doing this all of the time and I wonder what would make them increase or decrease their particular position on any given day or time of day. Volume is fairly light today on Amex yet their position is almost 500k. On other light days I have seen it at 20k below the bid so what would this large difference be from? On days we have good volume and the trend seems up ie gold makes a big move it seems I see Amex increasing their position size above the ask almost as if saying you'll have this to go through if you want this any higher. A few days in the last month we have traded 3 & 4M yet Amex was still there with their large bids and asks, wouldn't this have been a day they took the day off with that volume of shares trading? I too want to believe that this is just a liquidity play by them but it just seems strange at times the way they play it.
