The Venezuelan national guard, in conjunction with the ministry of mine protection, will assist the basic industries and mining ministry (Mibam) in protecting minerals considered strategic for the country.
"Minerals used for construction will be withheld to be used in government infrastructure projects," a Mibam representative told BNamericas.
Members of the ministry of mining protection - a branch of Mibam - have already been deployed to several mining areas to help the deputy minister of mining with the supervision and control of said minerals.
"Once the respective verifications are made, the national guard will look after the exploitation of these resources," the official said.
