***** Wastewater represented a potential threat to the health of people in
mining and the environment
The transnational Crystallex, operator of the Las Cristinas project in Sierra
Imataca, opened here Wednesday a plant sewage treatment sector in the
municipality Sifontes New Claritas, a project that has contributed to improved
conditions of hygiene and safety of all inhabitants of the area.

Las Claritas, Nuevas Claritas I and II Santo Domingo and the surrounding areas
have been highly benefited by the new plant already in operation since May.
Directors of the company reported that during its construction were generated at
least 50 direct jobs to local people, which is mostly mine.

The engineer Andres Brito said that the network of sewage from the plant
beginning at the highway 10 and goes through all the streets of the stocks
mentioned, part of the San Isidro Parish, through a system comprising 10 km of
pipes concrete with diameters of 10 and 12 inches.

The greatest benefit that brought the launch of this project was the elimination
of septic tanks and sewage flows that often flooded the streets of the parish to
represent a potential threat to the health of people in mining and the
environment, they claimed Pablo Martinez and David Flores, locals.

Brito stated that this plant was designed to serve a population of 4 thousand
inhabitants but it has potential for expansion. Has two identical modules, each
processing 450 thousand liters / day, for a total of 900 thousand liters / day.

The investment managers of the company added, is about 6 million 100 thousand
bolivares strong. Another important work that makes up the pumping station is a
tank of about 70 thousand liters, including a network of high pressure water of
about 2 kilometers.

The engineer added that this plant is very easy to operate, low maintenance
cost, the smell is almost non-existent (because it uses a venting system) was
designed and built by Venezuelans and with support from domestic firms, mainly
labor local.

At the inauguration of this work were engineers John Madero, president of the
Institute of Metal Mining not Robert Fung, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Crystallex, Jose Felipe Cottin, president of Venezuela Crystallex
International, Andres Brito, representing the construction management of the
company, as well as cooperatives, communal councils and people in the community.

Neighbors who spent years and years, calling this book were very grateful to the
company Crystallex realized that one of so many dreams.




Modern facility




As well as the construction of the sewage treatment, the transnational
Crystallex has worked to ensure the health of residents surrounding the Las
Cristinas project. One way is by improving the conditions of the current care
module that works in the area and constantly providing it with inputs and
medicines.

Not complying with this, started the construction of a modern medical center in
Las Claritas integral that is already in its final stages of construction and
will be put into operation in about 20 months, approximately, said company
president Venezuela Crystallex International, José Felipe Cottin.

For this work the company has invested around 12 million bolivares still strong
and the provision of equipment and supplies. The engineer and sociologist Andrés
Brito Erika Nunez announced that the building is run by 90%, has about 200
thousand square meters and will have all the necessary medical services to
respond to this population.

The medical center will be integrated with a modern and comprehensive emergency room, delivery room, postpartum, general hospital, 21 hospital beds and observation, medical, pharmacy, laboratories, nebulization, raxos X, dentistry, Malariology, morgue, incinerator, and a convenient residence for house
physicians at the clinic overnight.

The operation of this center in the town will allow a better and more timely
care, which will considerably reduce the references to the medical use Sifontes
Hospital José Gregorio Hernández de Tumeremo.
