Meanwhile, Basic Industry & Mining (Mibam) officials are claiming that CVG-Minerven's Luis Herrera Mendoza was misquoted in a story published yesterday by Santiago de Chile-based Business News America's Harvey Beltran, where he was claimed to have said that the controversial Las Cristinas gold project would be handed over to a Russian government-controlled company. Last November, the Venezuelan government set up a 50/50 VenRus CA consortium combining state-owned CVG-Minerven and the Russian Agapov Group-owned Rusoro Mining Ltd named as its principal partner in the future of Venezuela's gold mining industry.
