E-Trade is having major issues today with account balances. Many are getting erroneous margin calls even on accounts with positive cash and no margin. If you are seeing a strange margin call don't panic and sell to cover it as it is likely an error. The other down side is you may be locked out of trading.

I found out the hard way when I tried to buy a chunk of KRY today in my cash account but it was telling me I had a margin call and I still can't trade.
