Think of the possibilities from Hugo's point of view...an illicit source of funds to pay the military to keep him in power as the economy self destructs and marshall law is imposed. Naaa...that kind of thing never happens.

Does anyone really think that the Venezuelans are that stupid not to know that passage of the new law took all of the profits out of gold mning and would destroy all hope of anyone ever developing Las Cristinas or any other ore deposit? Unless, of course, the fix was in. Timing of the new law was very convenient now wasn't it?
