Considered the discovery of more important iron ore of the last century, its finding and subsequent operation - realised first by the concessionaire Orinoco Mining Company and soon by CVG Ferrominera Orinoco it impelled the development of Guayana. The past weekend commemorated 62 years of the iron discovery in the Hill the Parida - soon baptized like “Hill Bolivar” -, historical landmark that marked the development of the ferrominera industry the west of the Caroní river, and that thanks to its recent re-opening continues generating progress and well-being for Guayana and its people. The Hill the Parida, denominated in 1948 with the last name of our Liberator, is a hill of 11 kilometers in length by 3 kilometers in width, located in the municipality Raul Leoni of the state Bolivar, approximately to 100 kilometers to the south of City Bolivar and 149 km to the southwest of Guayana City. Considered the discovery of more important iron ore of the last century, its finding and subsequent operation - realised first by the concessionaire Orinoco Mining Company and soon by CVG Ferrominera Orinoco- it impelled the progress of Guayana, and as of this year, after his reinauguración by the president of the Republic, Cold Hugo Chavez, it produces again mineral of iron to prop up the national development, in alliance with the People's Republic of China. Re-opening At the moment, by means of the execution of an investment of 71.8 million of dollars, CVG FMO and the company Commodities & Minerals Enterprise (CME) they undertake the re-opening of the deposit, and already the first iron mineral boardings have been realised even. The objective is to extract, in the lapse of 15 years, 43 million tons of mineral with high phosphorus, that - by being required by the national industry it will not be used like raw material for iron and steel processes in Chinese companies. The re-opening process includes/understands the adjustment and extension of the railroad, acquisition of railway and mining equipment, desmalezamiento of the production fronts, signaling of the railroads and the systems of mineral office; as well as the construction and installation of a plant of crushing, sieving of mineral, and factories for the maintenance of equipment. Radwan Sabbagh, president of CVG FMO, affirmed that this initiative comprises of the strategic projects of the industry of the iron. “In the middle of this context of crisis of the capitalist world, we continued advancing and generating development. We are example at international level, because in this situation we have still not stopped to realise investments, like the re-opening of this historical hill and the acquisition of wagons made in the country, to mention some examples”. Of this form, 62 years of the discovery of the mining potential of the “Hill Bolivar”, and by means of their recent re-opening, many compatriots recognize the importance of this finding. In the terraces of this mountain it was seeded, and still it is impelled, the future of a region that - thanks to the work of guayaneses and many that came looking for future have turned into important factor of development for our country. It presses CVG FMO Historical fact According to count of Stolen Luis Zorrilla, cronista of the municipality Raul Leoni, the discovery was realised by an expedition integrated by the specialists Mack Clayton Lake, Folke Kihlstedt, Victor Paulik, Wilhelm Boeckmann, Earl Nixon and others, in the context of an exploration of all the zone, during which the iron-bearing potential of the region was stated of scientific way. “As of that moment, the wealth of the hill began to seed itself gradually in Guayana, turned into new companies, public works, jobs, investments and progress sources”, affirm Zorrilla. “The first result of the operation of the iron was the fortification of the infrastructure of the region, with new highways, railroads, airports and until the ship canal of the Orinoco river, but soon the industrial development came from Guayana. If the ferrominero height had not taken place, doubtlessly history would be another one”, assures. |
