Train national guards in the fight against illegal mining

(MIBAM Press, 26-03-09) With the assistance of 25 National Guard troops took place - this Wednesday, the third training workshop to combat illegal mining, as the department staff that Shelter National Mining operates as a subsidiary body of the Ministry of People's Power for Basic Industries and Mining (Mibam).

The deputy director of the National Mining Resguardo address, Brigadier General of the National Guard (GN) Douglas Ocando Valles reported that the main objective of the workshop is training - military personnel as part of the address-in monitoring and control of mining activity taking place in the country.

In this regard, he explained that Article 89 of the Mines Act, grants - to address the National Mining Shelter - the right to exercise the inspection, monitoring and control of mining activities throughout the country. "We as the armed wing of Mibam, we prepare our personnel to enable them in their daily work, to exercise the role fully," said the officer.

The direction of the National Mining Shelter, the main function is to plan, schedule, direct, evaluate and control all actions that directly or indirectly affect the development of mining activities, and ensure strict compliance with all existing laws attributed the institution, to cooperate with government agencies within the national, regional and local levels, in coordination with the governing body.

In this third workshop was part of the command staff of all ranks No. 1 with regional headquarters in San Cristobal, to the Regional Command No. 9, located in the Amazonas state.

The event was attended by the engineer Manuel Mendez, an official in the direction of the Audit and Control Mibam Miner, who gave an explanation on mining in Venezuela.

Meanwhile, the specialist Julia Contreras, Mibam official gave an explanation of the legal base that covers the procedures in place to prevent illegal discussed in mining activity in Venezuela, and the powers of the Ministry of Mines.

For its part, the explanation on the market and the formulas used to establish and / or determine the price of minerals in Venezuela was under the leadership of economist of the ministry, Second Briceño.

Briceño also noted the ministry has the power to regulate mining marketing channels, as well as determining whether a deposit can be exploited.

Ocando Valleys expressed interest in the direction that each team member is much more competitive in its primary function is to combat illegal mining.
