Miners' union alliance seeks to consolidate contracts

The three unions of the newly formed mining Venrus CA, mixed capital company in which the Venezuelan state owns 50% of the stock package and the other 50% is owned by the Russian Agapov consortium, decided to form an alliance with the union to provide a single draft agreement that will house all the workers of the mining sites in southern Bolívar state.
This decision dates from last November 14, 2008, after the expropriation of industry in the U.S. transnational Minera Hecla Venezolana, and for alleged violations to the rights of workers.
Exaviel Alexander, general secretary of the Single Union of Revolutionary Workers of the Industry Gold, Diamond, Kaolin, Quartz, and Allied Workers (Sutriodics), said that the conquest of the benefits of mining mass obrera be launched without any union role .
He stressed that besides Sutriodics, the other two associations that make up the unit are the Single Union of Professionals and Technicians of El Callao Gold Mining Company (Suptecmining) and the Union of El Callao Gold Mining Company (Sintracallao).
He said that regardless of the adoption of a single collective contract, each group will be independent in any of its actions, respecting the dignity of working miners.
Alexander said that the collective agreement clauses that protect 100 houses over 600 workers in the socio-economic field, who have placed their trust in these affiliates to fight for their benefits.
Alexander said in the coming days will be broadcast in the convention the record of Labor Inspectorate Guasipati before the existence of a strong collective agreement.
"We assume this role to prevent trauma that can be taken among the workers," he said.
Disputes involving wear
The unification of the three houses was due to union together would be easier to conquer greater benefits, in addition to stay away from the constant quarrels between them and common organizations of a company.
"The struggles have not stopped off for workers and industries or between unions," said the General Manager of Sutriodics.
