Connected with appointment of new Cabinet


Caracas, 03 Mar. ABN .- Ramón Carrizález Rengifo was appointed Tuesday as
Minister of People's Power for Defense and ratified as Vice President as part of
the cabinet changes announced on Tuesday that the Minister for People's Power
Communication and Information, Jesse Chacón.

Below the full text of the communiqué:

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez Frías, in the
beginning of the third cycle of the historical revolutionary process, based on
constitutional principles and the principles of organization and operation set
out in Decree with Rank, Value and Power Organic Law of Public Administration,
which allow to adapt the administrative structures of public policy developed by
the National Executive, the Council of Ministers agreed to undertake the
reorganization and appointments in the agencies listed below:

1. The Ministry of People's Power for Science and Technology was renamed
Ministry of People's Power for Science, Technology and Industry Intermediate,
which was transferred responsibility for industrial development so far assigned
to the Ministry of People's Power for Light Industries and Trade.

2. The Ministry of People's Power for Light Industries and Commerce became the
Ministry of People's Power for Business.

3. The Ministry of People's Power for Infrastructure now called People's Power
Ministry for Public Works and Housing, to which he transferred the powers so far
to the Ministry of People's Power for Housing and Habitat, eliminating the
latter.

4. The Ministry of People's Power for Health was renamed the Ministry of
People's Power for Health and Welfare, which was transferred the
responsibilities for social protection allocated to the Ministry of People's
Power for Participation and Social Protection, eliminating the latter .

5. The Ministry of People's Power for Communal Economy Ministry was renamed the
People's Communes, which was transferred the responsibilities assigned to the
participation of Ministry of People's Power deleted for Participation and Social
Protection.

6. The owners of the Ministries of the People's reorganization will be subject
to the following people:

6.1 The Ministry of People's Power for Business, citizens Eduardo Saman.

6.2 The Ministry of People's Power for Health and Welfare, a citizen María Jesús
Mantilla Oliveros.

6.3 The People's Power Ministry for Public Works and Housing, the Citizen
Diosdado Cabello.

6.4 The Ministry of People's Power for Science, Technology and Industry
Intermediate, citizen Nuris Orihuela Guevara.

6.5 The Ministry for People's Communes, Erika Farias.

7. It means a citizen Maria Cristina Iglesias as Minister of People's Power for
Labor and Social Security in place of Roberto Manuel Hernandez citizen.

8. Designates the citizen Morejón Pedro Carrillo as Minister of People's Power
for Tourism, replacing the citizen Olga Cecilia Azuaje.

9. The ministries are not mentioned in this release continue to function with
the same name and their internal structure will be reviewed carefully to achieve
maximum efficiency. Likewise, the holders have been ratified in office.

10. It reaffirms the position of Executive Vice President of the Republic Ramón
Carrizalez Rengifo andalusia citizen and was appointed Minister in charge of the
Ministry of People's Power for Defense, replacing Chief General Gustavo Rangel
Briceño.

These structural changes at the beginning of the third cycle of the historical
revolutionary process, are intended to accelerate the dynamics that govern the
state administration to make it more effective in their work of building the
welfare and interest, emphasizing the element of maximum value and ethical
consideration in the management of public affairs.
