The press conference was held at the headquarters of the Indigenous

River Basin during the month of February by members of the Theater of
Operations number 5 (TO5).

The information was provided during a press conference hosted by
Arturo Rodriguez, coordinating general of the Organization of
Indigenous Peoples of the Caura River Basin (Kuyujani).

According to Rodriguez, the eviction was carried out in a peaceful
manner and with strict respect for human rights of these individuals,
contrary to what many have pointed out.

He stressed that despite the actions taken by the TO5, with the
collaboration of the Navy River, still some mining groups in the
sector.

"Even groups still exist in the area, the characteristics of the
forest sector have allowed some hide, but the strength of TO5 still
there and we hope that will remain until they leave all," said
Rodriguez.

Complaints mandatory
According to the coordinator, was due to the allegations made by
the representative of the communities Yekwana and Sanema, that the
situation could know who lived Caura River Basin and proceed with the
eviction.

Parliament, Jose Poyo, a detailed report of the new invasion of
illegal miners in the river Yuruaní our complaint was assisted

people in these communities are heavily dependent on the area that
was threatened by the activities of mining.

"Indigenous peoples Yekwana and Sanema for 10 years we have been
fighting for the defence of the environment; the Caura area is a
virgin who has not been compromised or destroyed by landowners or
miners, which covers a vast territory of four million hectares, where
focuses an immense biodiversity (...) for the conservation of
watershed and our survival depends on food, customs and culture, we
have reason to protect it. "
