At a reunion held yesterday at the headquarters of the Indigenous
Parliament of America (PIA) Venezuelan Parliamentary Group (GPV),
representatives of different institutions of the state and the IAP-
GPV raised the need to form a special committee composed of national
and regional Bolivar state to address the situation of the region
are, in relation to the illegal mining activity in that state.
However it is not excluded form work tables to consult indigenous
peoples in the municipality Sifontes.
This reunion was attended by representatives of various state
institutions such as the Theater of Operations 5 of Bolivar State,
National Assembly of People's Power Ministry for Basic Industries and
Mining, Ministry of People's Power for Energy and Petroleum
Commission on Indigenous Peoples of the National Assembly, Office of
the Ombudsman, indigenous organizations and PIA-GPV.
Alberto Rodriguez, indigenous leader said that indigenous peoples and
Sanem Yekwana are against mining activities in the region are raised
while a study of alternative economic development to curb illegal
mining activities.
Moreover, in his address to the other representatives of state
institutions Jorge Castillo, Environmental Consultant indicated that
there is no such entity as forest reserve may be an ecological
